As of  December 13th, American Metal Handles Inc., of Newark N.J., and Handles Inc. of Arcola, IL, have merged their businesses and contributed all their metal handle production assets to a new joint venture, HANDLES USA.  Both American Metal Handles and Handles Inc. will be members of the new LLC, and production will continue in the Newark and Arcola plants.

 

HANDLES USA  is the largest producer of metal broom and mop handles in the world, with five state of the art welded tube production lines, and injection molding equipment.   Their products  include:

  • Tubes
    • Lengths                 24” to 144”;
    • Diameters             21mm, 22mm, 7/8”, 15/16”, 25mm, 1”, 1 1/8”
    • Finishes                powder painted, plastic coated,  and

“Luster Finish” (multilayer high gloss polypropylene);

  • Secondary Operations  including hole punching, slotting, and foam grip applications;
  • End Fitments  Many end fitments including swivel caps, acme and Italian threads, 

mop winding plugs, metal threads, dome caps, and flat plugs;

  • Telescopic handles in a variety of sizes, diameters and finishes;
  • Sectional Handles of  3 to 6 pieces .

 

Tim and Jim Monahan will continue to be active in the sales function of the new company.  Sales, Marketing, and sourcing of strategic raw materials will be headed by David Jablow,   who will be the new President  of Handles USA. 

 

David Jablow was the President of American Metal Handles, and his family also owns TPC Metals Inc(www.tinplate.com).   TPC Metals  specializes in light gauge metals, and operates a  metal service center on five acres in Newark, NJ , with four high speed slitters and two cut-to-length lines.     TPC Metals sells tinplate products to can manufacturers and metal stamping  companies.   They also   provide  “fullhard” steel  coils to many other handle and tube manufacturers around the world.

 

The Monahan’s will continue to sell other products including wood handles, mop hardware, and finished mops to

OEM accounts through  the Thomas Monahan Company (www.thomasmonahan.com).
